Light Emitting Diode (LED) Technology Lights up the City
The City of Orlando is converting every stop light and pedestrian signal from incandescent bulbs to LED technology. The benefits of using this type of technology includes low cost, long life and high efficiency. On an average, LED’s use 80 percent less energy and last six to ten times longer than conventional bulbs. Converting all stop lights and street signals will give the City an estimated savings of more than $27,000 a month. Additionally, the LED technology provides increased visibility for drivers.
